Korowal School: Non-denominational, co-educational, Kindergarten to HSC

Korowal School, Blue Mountains Australia

Korowal is a small school

... a community on a human scale, where teachers, parents and students know each other ... where learning accommodates the talents and needs of every student ... where no-one gets lost.

Korowal is a human-centred school

... where relationships are the heart of the learning process ... where we educate the whole human being in a holistic way ... where we value empathy, creativity, resilience and critical thinking.

Korowal is a sustainable school

... where we aim for social, educational and environmental sustainability ... where we value quality over quantity and context over content ... where we allow time for childhood ... where students are not ranked against each other ... because education is not a race.

Korowal is an integrated school

... where the curriculum encourages immersion and interdisciplinary study ... where creative and formal work are integrated ... where learning groups transcend age boundaries.

WHAT DO OUR GRADUATES DO?

I am often asked, especially by prospective parents, what our graduates do.  When I read this recent article in the Drum, I was delighted to see that it was written by one of our ex students, Eamon Waterford.  Eamon was a K to 12 student at Korowal, who went on to UNSW and now works as the Policy and Advocacy Director of Youth Action, the peak body for youth affairs in NSW.

If you would like to read the article, titled "Early Intervention Saves Money (just give it time) follow this link:  http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-04/waterford-early-intervention-saves-money/5367738

FLEXIBLE PART-TIME MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS ROLE AT KOROWAL

This is one of those opportunities that very rarely come up.

It is a marketing and communications role with a difference.

We are a unique K-12 school in the Blue Mountains, which excels in the creative and performing arts and was ranked 75th in the top 100 schools for 2013.

In a recent research project, the senior pupils described it as "the best school in the world". The parents said "they are amazed how much time and attention the pupils get”. The teachers said it is "education the way it should be taught"!

What we want to do is spread the word about how unique we are. We want to let the world's best educational secret become a little better known. Hence we are looking for someone to come and be a part of 'our family'. The person in this role would report to the Principal. Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

This is the opportunity to create a greenfield marketing story - create the brand story, develop how and where it is to be communicated and guide the school's communication with the community.

If this opportunity sounds exciting to you, please submit your CV by Friday 14th Marcheither:by email to jayne@pivotalconsulting.com.au  or in writing to: The Principal at Korowal School, PO Box 561, Hazelbrook 2779
