From the window with a view - week 5, term 1 2017

A Window with a View

Week 5 had a rainy start and a rainy end, with lots of rain in between. That's a lovely thing as our grounds look beautiful and the birds are singing a symphony between showers. We want to thank the children for coping with being indoors for most of everyday, and for adding colour to otherwise grey and misty landscape.

It was a quiet and focused week at Korowal. Our outdoor attempts to care for our environment for Clean-up Australia Day on Friday were thwarted by the rain, so we will postpone this until the weather is clear! The students did clean desks and classrooms however. Justin has reminded us that we are still collecting old compost bins for more composting areas throughout the grounds. He has included a compost wheelie bin to the primary playground for lunch scraps, peels and skins etc. If you are keen to garden, the next gardening bee will be held on Wednesday 15th March from 9.00-11.00am. The third Wednesday of the month is coming upon us with gusto as March 1st was a Wednesday.

On Saturday we welcomed over 20 families to our Information Morning and the school looked beautiful. Thank you for passing on the facebook posts and alerting friends to this event. Our next Information Morning will be next term, however with a bit of notice, we also show new families around on school days.

This month in primary we still look forward to Bush Day and the AFL Gala day. We are grateful for the specialist training our Year 3-6 students have been receiving through the AFL clinic coaches each week. This week in High School, Year 8 will attend the Japanese Foundation Excursion in Sydney, and next week Pathways Art students will attend Art Express. Throughout the high school students are rehearsing pieces for the upcoming Cabaret. The music co-curricular, pathways music, elective music, drama and art classes work on offerings for Korowal’s biennial extravaganza.

This Wednesday evening the Korowal School Council will have its first board meeting for 2017, and again we thank the parent and teacher directors for their important contribution to the governance of the school.

As mentioned last week, we have been offered a bus for a parent gathering place/café. The photos below show us the potential of this excellent donation. All we need is the energy to make it happen, so if you are able and interested in getting involved, please let the school office know or email exec@korowal.nsw.edu.au

May you enjoy sharing time with your family,

Barb
