A Window with a View- Week 2, Term 1 2018

A Window with A View

Kindergarten joined us at Korowal on Wednesday in Week 2! We extend a warm welcome to parents, grandparents, carers, and children, with both new and familiar faces gracing our School.

Primary families are invited to participate in Morning Circle in the grounds on Monday mornings, and everyone is welcome to our Cuppa on Thursday mornings this term. While the weather is welcoming we can a gather and natter. We also invite everyone to a b-b-q on Friday 23rd February, from 3.30pm. This has been proposed and coordinated by parents who are keen to get to know each other. Hopefully you have received an email invitation to this community event.

The first two weeks have gone smoothly, although traffic is heavier this week with new kindy families. We would like to remind you that Kindy finish 10 minutes earlier this year, at 3.10pm, and that we are supervising primary children in Years 3-6 after school until 3.45pm. We hope that you can take advantage of these changes and delay your arrival for pick up, giving us easier traffic flow.

High school parents are requested to enter the drive after 3.30pm for pick up and the students will be waiting on the front grass area for you.

Thank you to all of you who were able to attend class meetings for parents of Years 11 and 12, Year 7, Years 3 and 4 this week. In Week 3, we will meet with parents of Year 10, Year 8, Years 5& 6 Years 1& 2, and Kindy. In Week 4 we will hold the Year 9 meeting.

At these meetings we are requesting that all parent volunteers obtain a Working With Children Check Volunteers Registration (WWCC). It is in all of our interests to ensure that we are providing a safe environment for our children and this is one way to ensure that we are.   Registering is an easy process and free for volunteers.  The first stage is to apply online at:

https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check

Once the online registration has been made, the final step requires a visit the Motor Registry Office to present identification. When you receive clearance and the number, please inform the school office and we will register you on our WWCC register. All workers are required by law to have this, and we aim to move towards all volunteers and parents/carers having clearance as we all keep our children safe. Thank you in advance.

Our HSC Art Exhibition was held last Thursday evening prior to the Pathways class meeting. The works are beautifully executed and covered a wide range of media. Unfortunately Kerrod’s work was absent as it is going on exhibition as part of Art Express, the exemplar art works for 2017. We congratulate the students for their fine works, and their teachers Anne and Andrew, for their masterful guidance. We will leave you with a few images.

May you have a relaxing start to the third week of Term 1, 2018.

Barb
