This week’s post will mostly address a significant conference which Louise and I attended in Melbourne. However, not before we sing the praises of our senior students.
In Week 8, while we were away, our Pathways drama students performed their devised theatre piece to family and friends. Fortunately I was able to view a final rehearsal before going to Melbourne. As an audience member it had a powerful impact, for the students presented vignettes of the imprint of our adult world on children, of sibling rivalries, of the changes that the digital age is having on creative play, as well as further themes of childhood. It was challenging, discomforting and entertaining, and the students did a marvellous job of both creating and performing this piece. Kelly and her students are to be congratulated on their bravery, creativity and hard work to present such an important show to us. Thank you all.
The HSC Society and Culture class are currently working on their major work: the Personal Interest Project (PIP). Students have been asked to give short presentations on the work they are putting into their PIP and these presentations will run on Wednesday 21st June at 6PM in G1.
We would like to invite Pathways students and their families to attend and support 13 students who are bravely undertaking the biggest academic research task many of them have ever completed. It would be lovely for them to have an audience to share their hard work with and to feel supported as they undertake the task of synthesising their research into the final document. This invitation is also open to all students in Year 9 and 10 who are interested in Society and Culture as a potential HSC subject.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Kelly: email@example.com
We would love to see you there!
As the HSC progresses we traditionally have Winter Holiday Workshops over the three week break. Please find the attached workshop schedule for Year 11 and 12 students.
These are intended to provide focussed attention to essential course work, and immersion for practicals. They are conducted in the first week of the school holidays, coming soon. We accentuate the importance of the students having a holiday in the latter 2 weeks, however three weeks cuts deeply into the time allocations for HSC subjects.
Business Studies will not be holding a workshop as they recently attended a day of immersion.
It is important that all students attend these sessions.
Lisa Harding and Steve Garthwin
A reminder that the Pathways Information Evening is on Tuesday 30th May from 7pm in G1. We will begin the conversation about requirements for the HSC, how Pathways works and subjects on offer. As there is a focus on subject choices we would encourage you to bring your child along.
We look forward to seeing you there.
