From the window with a view - week 8, term 2 2016

As we waved Week 8 goodbye we escaped the forecast storm on Friday afternoon. With only one week left before the holidays, we appear to be very busy. What a colourful week we had!

From the window with a view - week 6, term 2 2016

With two further weeks until the end of Term 2, this long weekend is a welcomed resting period.  What a pleasant change to routine it was to sit and share a cuppa under the tree on Friday morning. We will continue to hold this for the two remaining Fridays of this term so if you are dropping your children off at school and have a spare 15 minutes, please stop by. The spaces for connecting are sometimes hard to place within our busy schedules.

From the window with a view - week 5, term 2 2016

The last time I wrote to you I was embarking on 5 weeks leave in Europe, and how quickly it flew. My time away provided opportunity for relaxation, cultural enrichment, fun, and objectivity on life and also on Korowal.

From the window with a view - week 4, term 2 2016

I am sitting here on Saturday morning looking out of my window at the smoke-enhanced view of the beautiful Japanese maple tree, which was so lovingly mulched yesterday. Mark (Thomas) was telling me that this tree is an offspring of the original tree that was planted in 1908, which makes taking care of it especially satisfying. The primary school children, with a few high school students, and a fabulous crew of parents, also mulched the prunus tree in front of the Primary School entrance. A joyful and productive time was had by all.

From the window with a view - week 3, term 2 2016

We have had many absences this week amongst students and staff. Here's hoping that everyone has had a restful weekend and will soon be enjoying a full return to good health. This weekend's sunshine has hopefully helped.

Perhaps the most significant "happening" that has taken place this week is in regards to the construction of the pathway from the end of the driveway near the PS classrooms over to the meadow. The concreting has been completed, there is sand in the sandpit and the turf has been laid. We need to let the turf settle and are hoping that in 2 weeks' time we will have the area open and ready for use. A huge thank you to Diego Villar, John Shaw and the multitude of workers who have helped in the construction of such a wonderful "landscape renovation". Not only have they produced a high quality finish but they have also been very mindful of the presence of children and have been exemplary in their safety awareness.

From the window with a view - week 11, term 1 2016

Our last week of Term 1 has ended and the children are tired. It has been an unusually long term, so we hope that they all get time to rest and restore. Within a day, the School has transformed from a hive of activity with children and young adults to become a creative hub for crafts people from around Australia. ContextART conducts workshops at Korowal over this next week and have over 200 people participating in sessions.

From the window with a view - week 10, term 1 2016

With thanks to Kizz and her organizational capacity plus the enthusiasm of our students, families and staff, the fun run was a great success on Thursday of Week 10. The sun was shining and Joel Hart (Year 5), in his official gear, was cheered by the school as he waved, at the ready to mark the wrists of participants as they completed each 1.2km lap of the school. Ice blocks awaited the tired and thirsty competitors on the completion of their race against time. Walking and chatting or running and puffing were the order of the afternoon. We had many parents on the grass and a few participating. It was a joy to behold.
