Korowal has a well-stocked library which is the hub of the school.
High School students are welcome anytime including before school, recess and lunchtimes. Primary students are allowed anytime with their teacher’s permission and any lunchtime and before school. Library hours are 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Tuesday – Thursday and 8:30 am – 12:00 pm Mondays and Fridays.
The library and LRC have 23 computers available for Internet use, word processing and other uses.
Any computer on the intranet can access the Catalogue browse screen to search for library resources by going to the Home page http://home/ and clicking on the Library link.
Resources are organised into the following sections:
- Non Fiction [000-999] using Dewey Decimal Classification (Periodicals are shelved within this section and also carry a PER label
- Fiction [F]
- Senior Fiction (for High School) [SF]
- Junior Fiction (Picture Books) [J]
- Reference (to be used in the library only) [R]
- Teacher’s Reference [TR]
- Kits [KIT].
Copies are 10 cents per page.
A card must be purchased from the front office.
They are available in $1, $2, $5 and $10 values GST.
Students must borrow their books before they take them from the library.
Bring the books to the charge desk near the door.
Loans are for 2 weeks and if necessary can be renewed for another 2 weeks.
Primary students may borrow up to 4 books in each of the 3 categories: 4 Non Fiction, 4 Junior fiction, 4 fiction. High School students may borrow up to 5 books and may also borrow senior fiction. Students are responsible for returning books borrowed in their name.
Books lost or damaged must be paid for at retail value.
