The Korowal Kitchen

Our chef/ canteen manager, Trish Fitzgerald has converted our charismatic kitchen into a warm, inviting hub where nutritious meals are prepared each day for staff and students. Trish and her team of volunteers work from 9.30 to 2.30 cooking and serving a seasonally adjusted menu that caters for vegetarians, meat eaters and gluten-intolerants…. minestrone, pesto chicken, fried rice, sausage rolls, pasta vegetarian and bolognaise, salad wraps. hummus,sushi, samosas…. Trish believes that the experience of food flavors is educational. She has delighted in observing the students positively respond to flavors that they have not previously tasted.  Wherever possible we co-ordinate the required kitchen ingredients with the school gardens, so that the vegetables needed for the kitchen can be produced in our own organic garden.
Helping in the kitchen requires one day each week from 9.30 – 2.30 for one term. Volunteers are needed each term. If you can help, contact Trish via the school office on 47587466. It is a creative experience!

Methods of ordering

Primary school: Bring paper bag or your lunch box (labelled with lunch order and your name, teacher's name and class) with the correct money. Leave at canteen or hand in to classroom before 10.00am.

High school: Purchases may be made at anytime during recess and lunchtime from the canteen.
To avoid disappointment, bring paper bag or your lunch box (labelled with your name, class and teacher's name) with the correct money and leave at canteen before 11.30am.

If you would like to simplify your child’s food ordering you can pay the kitchen in advance and subtract each lunch order from your account… saves having to find change every day! 
 

Food from home

If your child brings their own morning tea and lunch, healthy food is encouraged - aluminium and plastic packing, junk food including crisps, lollies and carbonated drinks are discouraged. NO GLASS containers please.
