Scholarships

Students entering Year 7 and Year 10

Korowal offers Scholarships for students entering Year 7and Year 10. Scholarships categories are

  • Art
  • Music

The Scholarships are merit based.

All applicants are required to sit the ACER Scholarship tests. Results of these tests are used to award Academic scholarships, but are used as a guide only in the awarding of Drama, Music and Art Scholarships.

Value of scholarship

The value of a Scholarship is generally equivalent to 25% reduction in tuition fees.

Scholarship period

A Scholarship awarded in Year 7 remains in effect until the end of Year 9. A Scholarship awarded in Year 10 remains in effect until the end of Year 12.

Application process

These Scholarships are generally applied for in March/April, the actual dates are notified in the local press and on our Website. The Scholarship tests and interviews take place in early April. Successful applicants are notified in May. The Scholarship period commences the following year. Applications can be made on-line, from this page when registrations are opened each year.

The Whitton Scholarship - Students entering Year 11

The Whitton Scholarship exists for students entering Year 11, called Pathways at Korowal. The Scholarship covers the final two years of school.

It is open to any student who can demonstrate an all round ability in social, cultural or sporting participation. The successful candidate must also demonstrate sustained academic endeavour.

Awarding of this Scholarship is by interview only.

Applications close at the end of term 2 each year, tenable for the following two years.

Value of scholarship

Equivalent to 25% reduction in tuition fees for each of the two final years.

The Whitton Scholarship may be applied for through the school's office.

The Nelson Mandela Languages/Peace Scholarship

This is a scholarship which allows for a partial fee reduction of $750 for each of the 2 years of the HSC.

This scholarship is open to students both at Korowal and in the wider community.

The student needs to be studying a language for the HSC and needs to demonstrate a clear and ongoing commitment to excellence.

In addition the student needs to be engaged in or already has a commitment to a community or World Peace project. This project can take many forms. With discussion and reflection, a studentneeds to undertake a project commensurate with their interests and abilities.

The student needs to provide an ongoing report of this project which should continue over both years of their HSC.

The student should also do their best to actively promote the study of languages and the pursuit of peace, both in the school situation and in the wider community: this could be giving short talks, providing photographic reportage of their own visits to any country, and actively involving themselves in the language community of their choice.

The Nelson Mandela Peace/Languages Scholarship may be applied for through the school's office.
